So today would actually in fact be 21st June 2002, without leap years, that is if you count the Roman calendar too which is an extra two months. The earth doesn't actually take a full year to? circle around the sun, it takes 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds, so we have leap years to keep up with the earth's rotation. Therefore, if you add up how many leap years we have already had which is, so far, 514, then if you take away the extra day every four years, then that would make today 21st June 2013. So technically the end of the world should have already happened. I think... We're okay. ;)

how the hell would they have finished a calender? :DD obviously no one knows when the? world is gonna end, so no one can "finish" a calender, regardless if they were "wiped out" or not.

They didn't need to. Leap years and subsequent stupid-ass rules are a product of the Gregorian calendar to account for the shifting of seasons. The Mayan calendars counted? the solar cycle and thus, didn't have to account for these season shifts because they, like the humble honey badger, didn't give a sh*t.
